“The land of the golden fields” is the story of this rustic Portuguese wedding in Alentejo
Alentejo, the land of golden fields, plains that stretch for miles and radiant sunsets… A XIV century palace in the Herdade da Fita Preta is the place where Margarida and David chose to have their wedding party. With Évora on the background, the main building is surrounded by the peacefulness of extensive vineyeards and the only sounds we heard at night were those of the wedding animation.
This wedding was the perfect blend between tradition and boho style. Both Margarida and David are from Alentejo, passionate about life, good moments shared at a table with friends and family … So, it made perfect sense for these high school sweethears to combine their history with a modern touch.
The ceremony happened in a small chapel near the groom’s house and they arrived at the venue in a family, vintage car. The cocktail was held outdoors (with plenty of food and wine to help lift up the spirits) and to honor their roots, a group of male singers joined in and sang Cante Alentejano. Just as the sun went down, the lights above the dinner tables lit and everyone fraternized to celebrate this inspiring union. At midnight, Margarida celebrated her birthday and glasses were raised in the name of love. The ingredients for the party were complete and everyone danced the night away.
It was perfect! Thank you!
