“The love knot” is the wedding story of this stunning couple. A romantic destination wedding at Forte da Cruz, in the heart of Estoril.
August in Portugal is usually a hot month. On this day, however, the clouds hovered above head . Somehow, I guess it was the cloudy, foggy atmosphere that made it even more special, and saying this was an alternative wedding is putting it mildly. Not only did Megan and Kristian both get ready at the venue, almost at the same time and in the same room, but they also decided to take a walk in the garden before the ceremony, while everyone was getting seated.
As the music played, they entered together, side by side in the ceremony area. Close family and friends celebrated the union and while beautiful words of love were spoken, their hands were bound in what is traditionally called a “hand-fasting ceremony” with assorted ribbons. As I’ve investigated, this type of ritual is original from Ireland and Scotland, where it was used to make a “contract” with your loved one.
After an elegant candle lit dinner, during which emotional speeches were held, it was fun time with a beer pong moment and a piñata right before everyone joined the dancefloor.
What an outstanding and surprising wedding this was! So grateful to have been there.
