STEPHANIE & NASH

DESTINATION WEDDING IN PORTO

Stephanie and Nash's dreamy day

The day before the wedding was my birthday, and instead of celebrating quietly, I decided to hit the road early in the morning. I wanted to meet Stephanie and Nash in person before the big day — and since it was my first time photographing a wedding at Bridge It & Suites, I was eager to explore the venue and see the light for myself.
I met them right after I arrived, and we went through everything together. They were full of excitement, and so was I. The next day would start early, with a sunrise photoshoot across Porto to capture the city at its quietest and most beautiful hour.

The Morning Photoshoot

It was a chilly September morning. The city still slept as I reached the top of the D. Luís Bridge. Moments later, Stephanie and Nash joined me — a little nervous, since it was their first photoshoot together — but their chemistry quickly took over. We had the entire bridge to ourselves, and I made the most of it. I captured sweeping, romantic images of the couple as the sun crept over the horizon, lighting up Stephanie’s dress and veil in gold. As a wedding photographer, moments like these are pure magic — the blend of architecture, light, and emotion is unlike anywhere else.

When the city began to stir, we wandered down through the streets, exploring Porto’s hidden corners and the Ribeira district. Empty alleys, quiet staircases, and the soft hum of the waking city became the backdrop for their portraits. Shooting Porto at sunrise gave their photos an intimate, cinematic feel that’s hard to replicate later in the day.

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place at Bridge It & Suites, a stylish riverside venue they had rented out entirely for their families. Overlooking the river and the D. Luís Bridge, it offered a breathtaking view and a calm, elegant atmosphere.

They had already done a full rehearsal the day before, so the morning felt relaxed and joyful. Stephanie looked stunning in a fit-and-flare gown with a long satin neck scarf that emphasized her graceful silhouette. Nash wore a light brown suit — simple, elegant, and timeless.

Their destination wedding in Porto was full of personal touches. One of my favorite moments was their unity ritual: both sets of parents poured water from meaningful locations into one bottle, which they then sealed with wax. There was also a cello player playing in the background and proving the perfect soundtrack to this new chapter of their lives (see Almedina Ensemble on Instagram) After the ceremony, guests enjoyed local treats like pastéis de nata and Vinho do Porto, followed by an intimate lunch full of laughter and heartfelt toasts.

The Party & Reception

The celebration continued in style with a boat cruise along the Douro River — my first time ever photographing a wedding reception on water! Before boarding, we did a quick glam photoshoot in Vila Nova de Gaia. Stephanie changed into a flowing satin dress that moved beautifully in the breeze, while Nash looked effortlessly sharp in a navy suit.

As the boat glided down the river, music played softly, and the sun began to dip behind Porto’s terracotta rooftops. The atmosphere was pure joy — and the glow of golden light reflecting on the water. Before sunset, the couple cut their cake on deck surrounded by their closest friends and family. It was the perfect ending to their destination wedding in Porto — warm, stylish, and filled with love.

Why Porto?

Porto is a dream destination for couples seeking a mix of romance, culture, and beauty. The city’s golden light, colorful façades, and river views create an incredible canvas for wedding photography, with its modern charm and panoramic views. The city is a blend of history and contemporary elegance.

Tips & Takeaways

  • Wear comfortable shoes: Porto’s cobblestone streets and hills can be tricky, especially if you’re exploring multiple spots
  • Plan your transport: If you’re shooting in different locations, use taxis or Uber to save time and energy.
  • Consider a sunrise session: Early mornings give you Porto at its quietest and most romantic, but afternoons bring lively, authentic city vibes.

Thank You!

Thank you, Stephanie, Nash, and your families, for being such warm and wonderful people. This never felt like work — it felt like being part of something truly special. Capturing your destination wedding in Porto was a privilege I’ll always treasure.
