“Autumn rain” is the story of this boho wedding in Azeitão.
Last Saturday of October. Autumn was at its peak with its vibrant colors and smells. Overhead, heavy clouds marked their presence and as the day unfolded, this became a memorable day on many levels, one being the rainiest day of the year!
In my opinion, Mariana was the epitome of bohemian elegance. For her wedding, she embraced her free-spirited style, choosing an intricately adorned dress that echoed her adventurous soul. Her simple earth-toned bouquet, filled with wildflowers and lush greenery, perfectly complemented the autumnal ambiance. During her preparations until walking down the aisle, Mariana exuded effortless grace and charm, a vision of boho beauty. In her unique ensemble, Mariana embraced her individuality and taste.
Mariana and Francisco wanted a small wedding. Above all else, they wanted their wedding to reflect who they are as a couple: romantic, contemplative, affectionate and attentive to detail. They’re people of people.
And it was indeed everything of the above. Despite the weather, there was an undeniable sense of warmth and love that enveloped the ceremony, creating an intimate and magical atmosphere. After the ceremony at Sesimbra’s castle, we went to Quinta das Torres, in the magical village of Azeitão.
The historic surroundings of Quinta das Torres provided the perfect setting for capturing timeless wedding moments. From the intricate details of the bride’s gown to the tender glances exchanged between the newlyweds, every element seemed to come alive against the backdrop of this venue’s rich history.
This idilic XVI century palatial house is surrounded by gardens, a lake and buildings embraced by ivy. Personally, the highlight of Quinta das Torres is undoubtedly its picturesque courtyard, where a grand tent was lifted under the open sky. Here, amidst the enchanting ambiance of the courtyard, guests and the couple gathered in celebration.
During the cocktail, a harp and clarinet duo enchanted everyone and a live band took it from there till the end of the night. The connection of all the people involved, their contagious energy, with the sound of heavy rain pouring in the background made this day a poetic day.
But it was during the couple’s photoshoot, inside the mansion, where we truly captured the poetic essence of the era. Stepping into the mansion’s hallowed halls, adorned with antique furnishings and intricate tapestries, felt like stepping back in time to a bygone era of grace and sophistication. Every room seemed to whisper secrets of the past, lending a sense of magic to the couple’s photoshoot.
As the celebration continued into the evening, guests were invited to dine under the transparent marquee, where they were treated to a feast of delicious local cuisine and fine wines. The sound of laughter and music echoed through the corridors, a testament to the joyous spirit that filled the air despite the rainy weather.
And as the night drew to a close, and the rain subsided to a gentle drizzle. For the newlyweds, this rainy October day had been nothing short of magical, a testament to the enduring power of love and the beauty of Azeitão, even in less-than-perfect weather.
In the end, this Quinta das Torres wedding proved that even the most unexpected circumstances can lead to moments of pure enchantment and romance.
